Spitalfields Teahouse
Year 1 Building Proposal
A community teahouse in Spitalfields, London, that occupies an awkward urban gap between two existing buildings and has to maintain ground floor access for council flats behind.
The proposal calls for multi-levelled tea brewing and drinking spaces that spill out onto the adjacent buildings to form a public, communal rooftop garden shaded by a tea leaf-inspired canopy. These are intertwined with private accommodations, sensitively designed around public spaces, for the tea master of the scheme.
